Star City Cruiser’s

30th Annual Car, Truck, & Motorcycle Show

August 2020

Sponsors of SCC Car Truck & Motorcycle Show

The Star City Cruisers Car Club is a group of people who have an interest in cars & trucks, Classic’s, Street Rods, Muscle Cars & Antiques. Once a year we organize a Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show as our only fund raiser for the Veterans Voluntary Services, our selected charity. The Veterans Voluntary Services supplies personal items for the Veterans staying at the VA Hospital which are not supplied by the hospital.  As a club, we have chosen to be very involved with our veterans because we want to honor their dedication, service and sacrifices for our country and our freedom.

Our goal this year (2019) is to have (225) entries for the show, and be able to donate ($5,500) to the Veterans Voluntary Services to be used for our Veteran’s needs. This is accomplished by our members seeking donations toward sponsorships of the show, selling sponsorships for trophies and/or items we can put into the Silent Auction.  All of these sponsorships make it possible for Star City Cruisers to draw a large number of participants and thereby, make a large donation to help the veterans!

We (the Car Club) currently are not a tax exempt charity; however, you can use the donation as an advertisement expense. For any type of sponsorship of the show, the sponsor will receive the privilege of having their company advertised by the DJ  multiple times during the  show as a 2018 Sponsor.  Also, any sponsor, which would like to provide a company banner we will be glad to put it on display at the show. Our club has elected a Show Committee to organize details of our next show. Basically this committee starts meeting in January and works through show date in August to organize all details needed to have a successful show.

We as a car club are very proud to note that we have donated over $32,000 to help our Veterans, by working with the Veterans Voluntary Services. For several years now our show has been located at the VA Hospital grounds in Salem, Va. The show has increased in the number of participants every year mostly because of our support for our veterans. We have to thank Salem Rotary Club, VA, Veterans Voluntary Service group and the Rolling Thunder motorcyclists in contributing to the show’s success. We, as a club, also take on needs of an individual ward with articles of clothing for Christmas gifts per veteran in our adopted ward.  We also gather magazines, toiletries, coffee, etc. all during the year at our monthly club meetings for tour veterans.

Our club, Star City Cruisers of Roanoke, VA, was founded over 20 years ago.  Our club is open to anyone with an interest in cars and we welcome all to join.  We are a family oriented club and have our monthly meetings on the last Thursday each month at the Roanoker Restaurant at 6:00 p.m.  Feel free to visit us to see what we are all about.

We encourage all that can donate, please do so, to support our Veterans in any way possible.

Sincerely,

Dennis M. Akers
